Our first ‘Stars of the week’

On Friday Bailey and Codie-Louise won the first title of “Stars of the Week.”

This is something we started last Monday.  Over the week the children are given star stamps against their name for good work, kindness, listening, or any other kind of fantastic behaviour. On the Friday afternoon we count up the stars and the child with the most stars (one from Poppies, one from Blue) becomes star of the week.  This means that they get their picture on the star board, get a certificate to take home and wear the star of the week badge for the following week.  More importantly, they get to choose something from the treasure tin.  The children tried hard to gain their stars last week, but after Bailey and Codie-Louise’s success (and a look at what’s in the treasure tin!) they have been trying even harder this week!  Here’s a picture of our “Star of the week” board:

Well done to Codie-Louise and Bailey!  We wonder who will it be this week?

Puppy update!

Well, we finally have a name for our new class ‘pet.’  Many thanks to everyone who brought a name in and there were some brilliant suggestions.  We put them all in a basket and drew one out.  We explained to the children that this was the only fair way to do it and that it was okay to feel disappointed if their choice wasn’t picked – they were very mature and understanding!  So, without further ado . . . .   big drum roll . . .  the name chosen was from Saffron and she had suggested the name – JASPER.  We all thought that this was great choice and were pleased with the result.  See you all at school, bye!

Our new class pet

Today when we came in from our morning play, we found a big box had been left in our cloakroom area.  We were all very excited to see what it was because it had the words “Help me!” written on the top.  When we opened the box we found a lovely puppy.  There was a letter inside the box.  It was very sad because it said that he had been abandoned and that the puppy’s owners couldn’t look after him anymore.  They asked us to find someone to look after him but we decided that we would like to keep him at school.  Mrs Langford got him a bed and a few little bits at lunch time to start off with, but we still need to find out quite a bit more on how to look after pets.  One of the first things we want to do is give him a name.  Please remember to fill in your child’s idea for a name on the homework slip they brought home tonight and return it tomorrow.  Here’s a picture of Jake holding our new friend so you can see what he looks like because this might help you decide on a name.  We are looking forward to finding out alot more about our pets in the next few weeks.  Bye for now!
